Founded just five years ago, Genesis is a relatively new company that consumers are just beginning to discover. With a focus on luxury vehicles, the Hyundai Motor Group offshoot has quietly released impressive cars since its 2015 start. The 2021 GV80 will be its first premium SUV, which will compete with the likes of BMW and Mercedes-Benz, meaning that it will certainly have some catching up to do. With impressive specs and details, however, the newest Genesis model could very well hold its own and establish itself as a viable but unconventional luxury option.
With a base price of $60,175, the GV80’s features are comparable to other luxury brands at a fraction of the price. The 3.5T Prestige top-of-the-line option will offer a 3.5 liter V-6 engine paired with all-wheel drive, which maximizes acceleration abilities. The standard model’s specs are still impressive, though, with a 300 horsepower turbocharged four cylinder engine.
Impressive wood trim detailing and a slim, sleek infotainment display make for a refined and elegant interior. Up to 7 passengers in the cabin make this a very spacious and significant SUV option, which is hard to find in the luxury space. The upscale brands that have dominated this market are finally being challenged by a more affordable alternative that will appeal to families and consumers alike.
Hyundai’s commitment to promoting its luxury offshoot Genesis has impressed us so far. From what we’ve seen, the 2021 Genesis GV80 will be able to compete with other luxury brands that usually dominate in sales and popularity.
